Subject: 6502 nostalgia
I came across your disassembly of BBC Elite,a couple of months ago, and more recently noticed you've also undertaken a disassembly of Aviator and Revs.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you, for the amazing work you've done here. As a 16/17 year old, those games were hugely time consuming and absorbing, and it's wonderful to now see much of their internal mechanics laid bare. Whilst I did a lot of 6502 assembly back in those days, it was nothing compared to what I'm seeing revealed by your work.
You've brought a big smile to a very nostalgic 50 year old and I'm once again suffering from late nights, this time from reading your work rather than playing those games.
Subject: Thank you
Thank you so much for the kind words!
As a very nostalgic 51 year old, I know the exact smile you mean. It turns out that exploring the secrets of my favourite games has made them even more fascinating... which is a relief. I did wonder at one point whether exposing the workings of the space/Spitfire/car simulations would ruin the games, but happily it's the complete opposite.
I'm just really pleased I can share my findings in a way that lets others see what I'm finding, and messages like yours are so encouraging to get. Thank you for taking the time to post - I really appreciate it.
