how interesting you are. am writing about my own travels around the world visiting places like greenland participating in life empowerment ceremonies in the himalayas etc travelled for a year and was just wanting to find out a bit more about the historical significance of the greenstone ... i walked this track alone and found it magical ....thought racing and much clearing plus some strange spiritual stuff occured. did the routebourne first followed by a break in the milford sound overnight ...and then back via greenstone...I think it was used by the maoris to carry greenstone which they later took to the north island .. look forward to hearing from you ..my email address is gailwoodhouse@yahoo.com 😲 😁 😀 😎 i think yoiu have a great job and its my dream to write and travel am particularly interested in spiritual healing experiences in remote areas and in remote traditions..do you think there is a market for this and if it doesnt take up too much time is it possible for you to advise me where I could send an article?? i am interested in visiting Egypt sometime.... In peace Gail

Hi Gail.

Thanks for the message. To be honest, I don't know the reason for the name 'Greenstone Track', but I do know that the Milford Track was used by the Maoris when they went in search of pounamu (greenstone), so it's quite possible that the Greenstone Track was the same. It would make a lot of sense.l

As for the market for travel articles, I'm not really the best person to ask, as I've never had a travel article published for money. Check out my article on 'How to be a Travel Writer' in the 'Travel Tips' section for more information on that - sorry I can't help you more!

Anyway, thanks very much for posting, and have fun in Egypt... 😀

Best wishes,

Mark
